My name is Nabacwa Maxiencia Verite. I am in Primary Seven Crane. I am here to talk about bull roasting in SCJS.
Bull roasting is carried out to celebrate the winning colour in sports. The administration provides a very fat and healthy bull. It is shared by the whole school.
On the day of bull roasting, children gather to watch the bull being slaughtered. Teachers take videos for records. After slaughtering the bull, children depart from the scene and return to their classes.
In the evening, the DJ starts his work. Children are called according to their classes. Children are given sticks with meat (5-6 pieces) to roast. When they are done roasting, they go to the forest and enjoy their meat as they dance to the rhythm of the music.
Teachers take pictures and videos of all this. What a wonderful day it is!
DORMOTORY AND BOARDING LIFE AT ST. CATHERINE JUNIOR SCHOOL.
My name is Manga Sheinaz and I am a pupil at St. Catherine Junior School. Boarding life at SCJS is very interesting. We wake up at 5:30 am on weekdays and at 6:30 am on weekends. We also have entertainment every weekend which makes us feel at home. Our dormitories may not be complete but they have enough space to accommodate all boarding pupils and the staff.
The matrons love us as their own, they teach us how to wash, clean up, organise and at times they teach us how to bathe. There are some ups and downs but our matrons are there for us. The school also makes sure we feed on a balanced diet. Boarding section at SCJS is an interesting adventure.
DORMOTORY AND BOARDING LIFE AT ST. CATHERINE JUNIOR SCHOOL.
My name is Bazira Christabelle Atwenze. I am in Primary Seven Crane. Boarding school is very enticing because, the girls are separated from boys. Whereas some schools have both genders in the same dormitory, at our school, we are separated. We are cared for by our matrons who iron our uniforms, help us to wash and sometimes give us guidance about health and personal hygiene.
Our school always makes sure that the pupils in boarding feed on a balanced diet during lunch and supper. We are engaged in co-curricular activities during the weekend, watching TV or even listening to music. On some days of the week, we always have canteen where we buy snacks using the money paid by our parents. Some children emaciate because they don’t want to eat yet the school provides us with a balanced diet and always want us to have all meals.
Though, sometimes school is boring, the teachers on duty try to make it enticing so that they don’t bore us. Our parents are also given time to come and visit us on engagements or visitation days. Those are the reasons why boarding life at my school is not bad.
