OUR TRIP TO JNJA

Jinja is an interesting place to go and see a number of good things like Mabira Forest, attractive threaded bridge, nice hotels, source of R. Nile, welcoming natives, markets to mention but a few.
On our trip to Jinja city comprised of two sections that is to say agricultural show of 2024 and a visit in Nyenga eco farm. Before we went for the agricultural show, we had a heavy breakfast and immediately after finishing it, we lined and the teachers assisted us to enter the exhibition center. We managed to visit a number of show places like; maize, here we learnt that maize should be stored when its dry to avoid rotting. A machine called moisture meter or bottle salt method is used to detect moisture in the grains before storing them in a silo or air tight sack.
We latter moved to organic medicine sellers; the attendant gave us some samples of brain boaster for sniffing. This produced an irritation which lasted for a while. We also visited beautiful demo gardens containing of well care for tomatoes, cabbage, water melon, sun flowers, onions, maize etc.
After the exhibition show, we later moved to NYENGA ECO FARM, HELLO; here we enjoyed the place, so conducive, good environment, good food. We were welcomed by the directors that is to say Eng. Muwuluke James and Director Cathy. After having our delicious lunch, director Eng. Muwuluke took us into lessons. He taught us how to care for trees and their benefits to our lives.
Other things we saw at the farm were as follow such as sugar cane, coffee, beehives, avocadoes, apples, passion fruits.

OUR TRIP TO JINJA

We had an interesting tour to Jinja, I was able learn more about rabbits, to take care of health like avoiding eating undried maize. This can result into cancer of the liver. We visited a number of demo gardens. We ended by going to Nyenga eco farm to feast and also learn. I would say, we are blessed because the director himself taught us especially about fruit trees.
I got to know pomegranate fruit has many benefits on our lives. It prevents early wrinkles on one’s face, prevents cancer, adds more iron in our bodies. They are valuable because each fruit cost not less than sh.10,000.
Thank you, our beloved administrators, for organizing the trip. We love ST. CATHERINE JUNIOR SCHOOL for always being unique from other schools.

My name is KALEMERA MUCHO JAYDEN, am in P.4 CRANE.I thank God who enabled the school administration of ST. CATHERINE Junior School to organise a study tour at Jinja city, it was full of fun. Since I like rabbits so much, am going to share my findings about rabbits; rabbits produce monthly, they rest for only a month to enable them suckle their young ones (kittens), rabbits are cared for by vaccinating them.
In our village; maize is one of the crops grown, we were taught proper storage of maize harvest, the harvest should dry first before storing. Maize is stored in a silo or air tight sack. Moisture in water can result into rotting so a machine called moisture meter is used to detect moisture in the harvest before storing.
We also looked at beautiful gardens of tomatoes. The tomatoes were brightly coloured increasing my appetite to eat them in their raw form. Amongst the types of tomatoes, we saw included Alston F1 and Ansal F1.
The tour beneficial to young generation like P.4 pupils, I will also practice farming at home.

OUR TRIP TO JINJA

I am grateful to St. Catherine junior school for organizing a study tour to Jinja. It was full of learning and fun. We learnt about rabbits, tomato growing etc.
We also learnt that a human being can get liver cancer when he/she eats maize stored when it is not ready. I also learnt that banana plants are attacked by diseases like Panama, leaf rust, banana bacterial wilt. And some of these diseases can be avoided by leaving space around the banana stem without mulches. The organisation of demo gardens sparked my attention, I wish to start one at home consisting of tomatoes, green peppers etc.
We also had a trip at Nyenga resort, I was able to see Lake Victoria, fish farms gazette by rings. The rings prevent fish from escaping. The place looks amazing, so beautiful and conducive to stay in.
