At the end of every second term, we have MDD presentations in different houses at St. Catherine Junior School. Learners show their talents in singing, dancing and acting. Our teachers always encourage us to participate. We compete in six houses ie Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Mahatma Ghandi, Desmond tutu, Martin Luther king and Einstein albert. We participated in three items. Cultural dance, singing the East African Anthem and the play. I was one of the best actors in my house because I love MDD.

My name is Kutamba Eugenia. I am in P.5. Last term, we had MDD at the end of term two. This is when the school organizes for us competitions of music in our different houses every year. The competition started early enough and all the learners were interested and working hard to win. I was very excited to participate. We always had training to keep us prepared. When the real day reached, I was a little bit scared but I managed to participate and my house [ DESMOND TUTU] emerged to be the fourth.

My name is Babirye Melanie Camilla. I am in Primary Five. Last term, we had MDD at the end of the term two. I was very happy to participate. We had training to keep us prepared. When it was the real day, I was a little bit scared but I said to myself that I can do it and well that went well and I managed to participate and my house [ DESMOND TUTU] managed to be the fourth. I was so sad and I cried.

My name is Gum Hannah Darice. I am in primary five. In second term on the last Saturday of the term, we had a MDD concert and the school invited our parents to attend.
We had six houses that participated. These are; Nelson Mandela, Einstein Albert, Mahati Ghandi, Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther King and Julius Nyerere. We started the event at 9:00 am and the MC was Tr. Jerome, he read the flow of events that were going to take place that day.
We had many events like a prayer, singing anthems etc. In our houses, we sang the East African anthem. After we had the act / play after that we ended with a traditional dance e.g Rakaraka dance etc. Lastly, we had speeches and announcing of results that were not bad. The winning house was Einstein Albert followed by Nelson Mandela, Mahati Ghandi, Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther King and lastly Julius Nyerere. That is the way the event ended.

My name is Peilla Luce. I am in P.5. Last term, St. Catherine Junior School had a music competition. We’re participating in our houses. I was in Mahatma Ghandi. Our trainer’s name was uncle Salim. We practiced the dance, the play and the set pierce. He chose actors e.g Lisa, Elly, Zoe etc.
I decided to participate in the play with a lot of a joy. Another trainer arrived called uncle Alexander and taught us how to sing the East African anthem.
In our script, there was a scene to cry. I had to cry and it was not easy. After all the trainings, the day finally came and I was so happy and scared. The results came out when Julius Nyerere was in the 6th position, Martin Luther King 5th position, Desmond Tutu 4th position, Mahatma Ghandi 3rd position, Nelson Mandela 2nd position and Einstein Albert was the first. I got a certificate of best actor. And that was the end of MDD.

My name is Munaaba Ephrance Damalie I am in Primary Five. I am 11 years old. Last year, we had our MDD and six colours were participating e.g Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, Mahatma Ghandi, Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther and Einstein Albert.
We participated in cultural dance, singing the East African anthem and the play. Nelson Mandela, my colour had the best actors. Nelson Mandela is also the director’s colour. We were the best in the set piece and we got the second position.

My name is Nanozi Genesis Terrah. I am in primary five. Last term, we had MDD competitions on 24th August, 2024. They brought trainers to come and train us. But the competition was in Houses. I was participating in my house because I wanted us to win. Out of all, my house Mahatma Ghandi was the third. We had to go home for holidays.

My name is Wandera Elijah. I am in Primary Five. On 24th August, 2024. I am in Einstein Albert. This is the house that won on that day. When I went out of the dormitory, my friends were smart in their sportswear. The houses started competing where learners were dancing and acting with all their best. The parents and other visitors enjoyed the day. At the end of the day, we were all happy because we won.

My name is Ssembatya Elijah. I am in P.5. What I liked from last MDD was the dance and the play. Our play was about sanitation and it was very interesting. I learnt the things used in promoting sanitation.
We danced the Lakaraka dance and this dance is for marriage. It requires a lot of energy and it was very tiresome. I was in every activity and my parents were very happy with me.

My name is Ochieng Jordan. Last term we had a Music concert which was held on a Saturday. First in the morning, we had to sing the Uganda national anthem, it was so exciting to sing it before a crowd of guests. Later we had to also present a play. In the play I was a police officer arresting people who cut down people’s trees. It was so fun to chase and arrest them. However much we got the 6th position, we hope to do better next time.

My name is Ssebufu Jason I am in Primary five. On 24th August 2024, we had our MDD. I was in colour red [ Nelson Mandela] and we got second position. When I reached school, people were wearing uniforms and we sang the set piece and our colour was the fifth on stage. We presented all the three and waited for the results. I was so happy to dance Kinyankole dance.

On Saturday 24th August 2024, we had MDD competition at our school. St Catherine Junior School has six houses/ colours. I am in colour green [Julius Nyerere] When I reached school, I found people in their uniforms. I also went and wore my uniform because our house was the first on stage.
Lastly, we went for the dance, for Basoga dance and we danced very well. I was very happy on that day because I participated.
Jason Shine Munene.

My name is Jason Shine Munene. I am in Primary Five. I am going to talk about MDD or Music, Dance and Drama. Last term, we had a music concert and we did many things for example dancing, singing and acting. I thank my trainer for training me and my colour was the 3rd. I also thank my teachers who encouraged us to work hard.

My name is Kawuma Loy. I am ten years old. I am in Primary five. Last term, we had MDD and we were competing in five houses. These are Julius Nyerere, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Mahatma Ghandi and Eisteen Albert.
We competed in three activities, acts, cultural dance and art piece which was the East African Anthem. I liked the judges and the dance for Acholi which was danced by Martin Luther King. This was great because it was my mother’s first time to come to my school.
